Loss Control
Loss prevention inspections are designed to assist in Risk Management for the Client and the Underwriters in defining the risk they will undertake. Such inspections are carried out by our in-house consultants. Inspections for single family dwellings to multi-million dollar industrial and commercial properties are detailed in a report that is prepared for all locations visited and are written to be read by Insurance Underwriters.

The components of the reports include:
- A physical description of the buildings and the age;
- details of wall and roof construction;
- dimensions and configuration;
- photographs of the site;
- description of the business operations.
Manufacturing sectors are provided a detailed discussion of raw material type and storage arrangements. Processes are described with more detail for those processes with a higher hazard such as flammable liquid storage. Finished goods storage is described again in more detail for goods that are known to be of higher hazard.
Fire protection equipment is described in detail especially with respect to sprinkler systems. Sprinkler coverage in ft2 / head is noted as is the pipe size schedule in use. Alternatively a design density is noted. The type of water supply is described and a water test is performed when this information is required and not available elsewhere.
- Estimates are made of normal loss expectancy and of probable maximum loss as they relate to insurance coverage
- Recommendations are made for improvement to prevent loss
- Where possible a working relation is developed with the Insured on current and future loss prevention activities
Loss control benefits everyone by preventing claims before they occur which results in lower premiums.
